The dual technology analogue addressable (combined) optical / heat detector
is bayonet – fitted to a radio address / transmitter module incorporating an
integral 5 year energy source and is supplied with a surface mount base unit.
Removal of the detector or address / transmitter module will indicate a fault
condition.
The heat detector part of the head operates on a highly sensitive thermistor,
which measures the actual temperature and rate of rise change. At regular
intervals, the detector carries out a self- test that checks and verifies every
function.
The optical detection part of the head operates on an advanced light
scattering principle, using a wide-angle light beam together with an extra high
sensitivity photodiode receiver. The internal polling system checks for smoke
particles every 5 seconds. Initial detection of smoke traces accelerates
polling to every 2 seconds. The alarm is then verified twice to ensure freedom
from false alarms.
When used in its combined dual technology verification mode both heat and
optical smoke detection properties have to be activated again with a 4
sensitivity levels, before sending the alarm status to the controller. This
makes the sensor a true radio multi sensor.
